Last night was a perfect example of what causes the New York Islanders to struggle. Their special teams, more specifically their penalty kill isn’t very good.
The team headed into last night with the 29th overall penalty kill. Giving up two power-play goals certainly didn’t help their cause. Are the Islanders really missing Nikolai Kulemin that much on the penalty kill?
Brendan Burke cited on the broadcast how it seems the Islanders have struggled on the P.K. ever since Kulemin went down with a season-ending injury. Kulemin can’t make that much of a difference for the Islanders to drop to the bottom of the league, can he?
