As we know by now, the New York Islanders have a severe problem when it comes to shots against. They lead the entire league in goals against, while also allowing the most shots per game at 35.9.
On six occasions they’ve actually allowed 50 or more shots on net. The Islanders are in rare company in that regard. Only five other teams in NHL history have allowed 50 or more shots six times in a season.
Thanks to Eric Hornick on that statistic. Only one team has allowed 50 shots or more in a season in seven times and that was the expansion Sabres in 1970-1971.
