The 2012 draft is one that the New York Islanders are likely looking to forget. They selected Griffin Reinhart with the fourth overall pick, and although they flipped him for Mathew Barzal which is great, I’m sure they would’ve rathered a fourth overall pick pan out.
The only other pick from that year that’s played in the NHL is Adam Pelech, who was selected in the third round of that draft. Although he just got a nice contract, the fact that he’s the best thing out of that draft is rather sad.
The Isles fifth round selection Doyle Somerby is at the point where he must sign with the Isles, or another NHL team, after playing the last four years at Boston University.
