The New York Islanders brought in Jason Chimera to replace Matt Martin. Naturally, people believed it would be a straight swap, meaning Chimera would be penciled in on the fourth line. Well, yesterday at practice he was skating with John Tavares on the top line.
Chimera brings something to the table that Martin didn’t, speed and goal scoring. Chimera at the ripe old age of 37 had 40 points last year, while Martin had a career high 19.
Chimera was expected to add more scoring to the Islanders fourth line, but instead he is seeing time on the top line.
