Since the 2013-2014 season, Calvin de Haan has been a regular part of the New York Islanders defensive core. He was selected 12th overall in the 2009 entry level draft by the Islanders and turned into one of their better defensive defensemen over that time.
de Haan’s best year came in 2016-2017 when he played all 82 games for the first time in his career. With a career-high 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) de Haan was due for a new contract as an RFA.
Garth Snow and Calvin de Haan struggled to reach an agreement so they signed a one-year $3.
