When the New York Islanders selected Brock Nelson at the back of the first round in the 2010 NHL Draft the thought was that they were getting a goal-scoring forward who can play either center or wing.
Many thought he’d be gone when the Islanders were able to snag him with the 30th overall pick, a year in which they also selected Nino Niederreiter fifth overall.
Brock has been consistently inconsistent over the first six years of his career. That’s why fans of the Islanders are frustrated with him as he’s never gotten over the hump nor has he put together a full 82 game effort.
