A few weeks ago, the bulldozers were out at Belmont Park. They started clearing out trees and sturring up dirt where the New York Islanders new arena will be built. Monday, the Isles will be welcoming Governor Andrew Cuomo down for the ceremony.
Empire State Development has been planning this for a few years at this point and it looks like it will “officially” be underway in just a few days.
The plan is to build a 19,000 seat arena that will serve the Islanders, a 250 room hotel, and a 350,000 square foot area for retail shops.
