The New York Islanders have a number of NHL ready defensemen. They have so many that Thomas Hickey is currently playing with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL.
With an injury to 32-year-old defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson, the Arizona Coyotes could use a right-shooting defenseman for their roster. After cracking his fibula blocking a shot Hjalmarsson is out for at least three months.
The Islanders have four right-handed blue lines on the active roster at the moment, maybe they can work something out with the Coyotes.
Fitting the Gap
Hjalmarsson is a blueliner that will play on average of 15 to 20 minutes a night.
