Energy = MC-squared, as Butch Goring aptly named the Islanders fourth line of Matt Martin, Cal Clutterbuck and Casey Cizikas last season. And energy is exactly what they shot through the building late in Tuesday night’s win in New Jersey.
With just under two and a half minutes left, Cizikas and Martin battled on the far end boards for the puck. Cizikas kept working, eventually won the puck away from two Devils defenders, and got the puck up to Marek Zidlicky at the point. Zidlicky fed across to Brian Strait, whose shot was tipped on goal by Martin before Cizikas cashed in the rebound.
