After a month of speculation, on May 22 it was officially announced: Lou Lamoriello takes over the New York Islanders as president of hockey operations with “full authority” over hockey decisions.
The move, initiated by co-owner Scott Malkin, brings an air of league-wide “respectability” to the club, new rules, a jolt of much-clamored-for change and...an improved on-ice product? One can hope.
