License to Ilya: Islanders finally get Sorokin signed

What year is it? You’d be forgiven if you have to think about it. Time has been blending and warping and crawling for so long that it can be hard to remember when something happened or what day it is or how long an event has taken to happen.

Goaltender Ilya Sorokin was selected by the Islanders in the third round, 78th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Six years, 15 days, two Islanders general managers, dozens of wins and an armload of awards all in his native Russia later, he has finally signed his entry level contract with the team.
