BUFFALO – The Sabres were the talk of the NHL in November as they put together a 10-game win streak. But it’s been the Islanders that have drawn plenty of the attention around the league the past two months as they’ve been able to sustain their success.
The teams meet on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center as the Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders open a two-game road trip while the Sabres, battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, play the penultimate game of a seven-game homestand.
“They’re really tight and they’re structured,” Sabres right wing Kyle Okposo said of his former teammates.
