TAMPA, Fla. – While Andy Greene played in his 1,000th career game on Monday night against the Lightning at Amalie Arena, Islanders’ teammate Jean-Gabriel Pageau marked his milestone 500th game.
"When you grow up, you dream of playing one game in the NHL," Pageau said. "To be around, doing what I love, it’s been fun. Tonight, it’s Andy’s moment. He totally deserves it. He’s grinded through 1,000 games, he didn’t have it easy. To be able to share that moment with him, I think it’s great for all of us."
Pageau’s worth to the Islanders was proven in their seven-game loss to the Lightning in the NHL semifinals as his play was limited by a hand injury.
