John Tortorella can relate to Jack Capuano, who was fired by the Islanders last week.
“I’ve talked to him since the firing,” Tortorella said before Capuano’s former team beat his Blue Jackets, 4-2, at Barclays Center on Tuesday night. “He’s gonna be fine. One door closes, another one’s going to open up for him.”
Tortorella, who has been axed by the Lightning, Rangers and Canucks, had Capuano as one of his assistants on Team USA in last September’s World Cup.
“He’s a hard-working guy,” Tortorella said. “It’s really the first time I got to know him, at the World Cup.
