NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — They are heading to Nashville.
Islanders center John Tavares, Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh and Devils goalie Cory Schneider were each selected Wednesday to participate in NHL All-Star weekend.
The league is changing things up this year, replacing the traditional All-Star game with a new 3-on-3 tournament featuring teams representing the NHL’s four divisions.
Tavares, who is making his third All-Star appearance, has 15 goals and 29 points in 37 games for the Islanders, who currently sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division. McDonagh has been a stalwart on the Rangers’ blue line, registering 19 points and a plus-10 rating.
