Islanders will have plenty of time to think about this sloppy defeat

Sports

The Islanders' Anders Lee collides with the Red Wings' Mike Green while going for a puck Monday night.

So much for going into the All-Star break with some momentum.

The Islanders had won three of four before Monday night’s 4-2 loss to the Red Wings at Barclays Center and mostly looked slow and sloppy in front of an announced crowd of 12,086 that was affected by suspended LIRR service that lingered from Saturday’s blizzard.

But after Mikhail Grabovski scored on a breakaway at 15:12 in the third to get the Isles within a goal, they kept the pressure on Detroit.
