Islanders: What Ilya Sorokin Decision Means For Greiss

According to Igor Eronko, Ilya Sorokin fully intends on coming over to the NHL next year to play with the New York Islanders. Lou Lamoriello's plan of having Semyon Varlamov be the bridge to Sorokin seems to be taking place, but what does that mean for Thomas Greiss?

Well, for the second year in a row, the Islanders will be letting a goalie coming off a career year walk in free agency. Greiss is on fire out of the gate, with a .938 save percentage and a 1.98 goals against average.

But, Greiss is on the final year of his deal and turning 34 in just a couple of months.
