Eyes on Yanks? Not quite, but I saw a tweet from Isles Blog talking about the Gerrit Cole contract in comparison to the New York Islanders and it was too crazy not to talk about. Just five years ago, the Islanders sold for $425 million.
In 2018, according to Forbes, the Islanders were valued at $440 million which was 22nd in the league. It's not super surprising that the Islanders are towards the bottom of the league, but they are clearly trending in the right direction.
The league average is $630 million, which is a pretty penny but not an insane amount of money, especially when you consider player contracts in other sports.
