A quiet Day Two of free agency passed with the Islanders adding only depth players who will likely serve as potential call-ups from Bridgeport in case of injury.
James Wright has the most NHL experience of the six forwards signed to one-year, two-way deals. Wright, 25, has played 147 NHL games and played last season in the KHL. Also signed were Justin Vaive, who played for the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford last season, Ben Holmstrom, Bracken Kearns, Joe Whitney and Justin Florek.
The Islanders are still looking to add a veteran defenseman to their group. This has been a restrained first two days of free agency around the league, so general manager Garth Snow likely won't jump too soon on a deal.
