It was fitting. Almost expected.

Of course the Islanders started from behind. Of course they trailed twice. And of course they found a way to prevail despite those deficits, setting a franchise mark with points in 16 consecutive games by knocking off the Penguins, 4-3 in overtime, at Barclays Center on Thursday night.

In doing so, they surpassed Islanders teams in 1978, 1980 and 1982 that had notched points in 15 straight games, improving to 15-0-1 over the stretch after starting the season with three losses in four games.
