Islanders' Semyon Varmalov ruled out for weekend games at Arizona and Vegas

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Semyon Varlamov is not quite ready to return to the Islanders’ lineup.

Coach Barry Trotz ruled the goalie out for both Saturday night’s game against the Coyotes at Gila River Arena and Sunday night’s game at Las Vegas.

After that, the Islanders are idle until resuming their season-opening, 13-game road trip at Nashville on Oct. 30.

"Varly’s the only guy that’s not there yet," said Trotz, as Jean-Gabriel Pageau returned to the lineup after missing Thursday’s 3-2 overtime loss at Columbus because of a stomach illness and no further cases developed after captain Anders Lee was sidelined for Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Chicago for the same reason.
