Respect and the New York Islanders usually aren't words that are found in the same sentence. From about 1994 until the end of the 2017-2018 season the Isles were about as irrelevant as you could be for NHL standards.
They had just one playoff series win over that time, and they were spinning the tires in endless rebuild efforts and poor General Managing from Garth Snow and the infamous Mike Milbury.
Those days are long gone with Hall of Famer Lou Lamoriello as the GM and Barry Trotz behind the bench. Last year, in year one, they did what took this franchise 23 years to do previously; win a playoff series.
