It was a small, mostly angry crowd at Barclays Center on Monday night that came to see a struggling Islanders team that sunk to the bottom of the standings during their recent West Coast swing.
The calls for head coach Jack Capuano’s job began even before the puck dropped and continued throughout much of the game, but the Islanders came away with a 2-1 overtime win over the Flames on Thomas Hickey’s goal 1:53 into the extra session.
John Tavares scored his first goal in 10 games to give the Isles the lead against Calgary, which was playing for the third time in four nights on their road trip.
