RALEIGH, N.C. — Once again, the Islanders just didn’t have enough. And now their season is on the brink.
It was a difficult 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 3 of this second-round series Wednesday night that put the Islanders down, 3-0, in the best-of-seven contest. Now Game 4 on Friday night could be the last gasp of their season, with everything having turned around so quickly following their first-round sweep of the Penguins.
The Islanders had lost the first two games of this series back in Brooklyn by way of only scoring one goal — that coming on a deflected pass.
