They can’t all be gems, so when the Islanders are able to put up 5 goals while not looking their sharpest against a weak team, well, that’s a beautiful thing. It is possible to be both lucky and good, and I’m reminded of a Clark Gillies quote from an interview he did four years ago with The Hockey News:
Everybody asks, ‘What does it take to win the Cup?’ Well, first you gotta be talented; you’ve got to be good enough – which we were – and then you’ve got to be healthy, which we were incredibly for four years.
