The Islanders came back to force overtime in Philadelphia again, lost in OT again, at least salvaged that point again, and finished the five-game trip without a win.
Each loss on the trip had some variation to its character while also some common threads that may define this season if it ends up as disappointing as its first month.
But there is time, the Islanders are “fighting through it” in Barry Trotz’s words, and the next opportunities are a pair back home against the Sabres this week.
