Twice in the last two games, as the Islanders were making franchise — and, it turns out, league — history, I found myself seeing the team trailing by multiple goals in the third period yet thinking, “This isn’t over, and no matter what they’ll make it uncomfortable for the opponent.”
When you’re riding such a streak as the Isles are on, such situations feel like house money. Sure, they probably won’t come back to win, but it should be fun to watch them try.
Except both times, they did the full thing.
The @NYIslanders are the first team in NHL history to win back-to-back games, after trailing by multiple goals in the last seven minutes of the third period in each game.
