Islanders needed one well-timed shot to extend Rangers’ misery

Modal Trigger

Josh Bailey (12) celebrates with Cal Clutterbuck and other teammates after scoring the game-winning goal in the Islanders' 4-3 win over the Rangers on Thursday night.

The Islanders had one shot in the third period — and that’s all they needed.

Having been pinned for most of the final 20 minutes, the Isles were able to get a goal from Josh Bailey with 1:26 remaining in regulation, beating the Rangers 4-3 at the Garden on Tuesday night.

Cal Clutterbuck set up the goal, making the pass from near the right-side goal line, allowing Bailey for an easy tap-in as goalie Henrik Lundqvist had no chance.
