New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello did it. He swung for the fences and brought in Jean-Gabriel Pageau from the Ottawa Senators for a number of picks.
The price for Pageau was always going to be high considering he was the top center available at the deadline and he was having a career year for the bottom-dwelling Ottawa Senators.
But Lou went out and paid, a premium to get a player that fits a need for the Islanders.
The Trade
To get Pageau from the Ottawa Senators, the Isles gave up a conditional first-round pick in 2020, a second-round pick in 2020, and a conditional third-round pick in 2022.
