SAN JOSE, Calif. – The streak lives on, so the Islanders can be happy about that.
They can also be happy about playing an up-tempo, entertaining game.
But going 0-for-6 on the power play in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Sharks on Saturday night at SAP Center to open a three-game California swing has to bring them some displeasure.
The Islanders (16-3-2) extended their franchise record to 17 games of gaining at least one point (15-0-2).
But Evander Kane fed Logan Couture at 2:30 of overtime for the winner for the Sharks (12-11-1).
Semyon Varlamov made 24 saves for the Islanders while counterpart Martin Jones stopped 27 shots.
