Shea Weber’s big slap shot with 2:57 left in the third snapped a tie and lifted the Canadiens to a 3-2 win over the Islanders at Barclays Center on Wednesday night.
The Islanders twice pulled even in the game but after taking their lone penalty of the night, surrendered the power-play goal from Weber and could not get a good chance with their net empty late.
The Canadiens grabbed the lead back with 8:39 to play in the third when Philip Danault shoveled a loose puck under Thomas Greiss after Weber’s wrist shot hit a crowd in front of the Islanders goaltender.
