PHILADELPHIA — There might be other teams that could lose a fourth-liner and hardly notice. The Islanders are not one of them.
Grinding winger Cal Clutterbuck left Tuesday night’s 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center with an unspecified “upper-body injury,” not coming out for the third period. Coach Jack Capuano only said that Clutterbuck “will be reevaluated” on Wednesday, “and then we’ll have a better idea.”
Clutterbuck was seen walking around after the game without a brace or any sort of visible aid.
It did force Capuano to juggle the lines a little in the third, and for a game in which the Islanders struggled mightily to create any momentum, their best moments came with Clutterbuck in the locker room.
