The Islanders went into the Christmas break with a 3-1-0 road trip.
The trick now is to come out of the mini-vacation with a strong start.
“If we don’t have a hot start after the break then what we did before the break really doesn’t matter,” right wing Josh Ho-Sang said. “We want to put ourselves in good position at the end of the year, not fighting like it has been the last couple of years where you’re a couple of points out (of the playoffs).”
The Islanders start a stretch of three games in four nights against the Senators at Barclays Center on Friday before traveling to Toronto and Buffalo before the New Year.
