Islanders Kieffer Bellows scratched by Bridgeport in order to reboot

Picked 19th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2016 NHL draft, Kieffer Bellows was going to be a promising asset in a few years. In his draft year, the son of former NHL'er Brian Bellows looked like he was going to follow in his father's footsteps and play in the NHL.

Bellows senior played in 1188 NHL games scoring 485 goals and 1022 points. It was always going to be difficult to follow that performance for Kieffer. With a promising draft year with 16 goals and 32 points in 23 games for the US U18 National team, he was starting on the right foot.
