Islanders hear the boos in lethargic loss to Panthers

Harri Sateri makes a save on Anders Lee during the Islanders' 4-1 loss Tuesday night.

The hole they dug for themselves was plenty deep before the Islanders finally tried to climb out of it Tuesday night.

Only after spotting the Panthers three goals did they begin to mount an attack, but it wasn’t nearly enough in a 4-1 loss at Barclays Center.

Adam Pelech put the Islanders on the board at 5:09 of the third period, less than a minute after the Panthers had taken a 3-0 lead.

The game’s first penalty was called minutes later, sending the Islanders to the power play and giving them a chance to add to the momentum, but it proved to be short-lived.
