There were no scores relevant to the Islanders’ playoff chase last night, so they enter tonight’s action against the Canadiens in the same position as they left the win over the Rangers: third place in the Metro, with a decent chance of hanging on to that or at least a wild card spot.
Along with tonight’s game, the Penguins and Red Wings face off, with both a point behind Washington for the second wild card spot, and three points behind the Isles. The death-spiraling Flyers are also in action, heading to Manhattan to help soothe the Rangers’ wounds.
