Sometimes after not playing for a few days in a row, a team can come out flat and lethargic. That was anything but the case for the New York Islanders who came out of the gate like their hair was on fire.
4:36 into the period, Scott Mayfield ripped home his fifth on the season to give the Islanders an early 1-0 lead. The Isles flat out dominated Boston in this period, getting 14 shots on goal to Boston's five.
The Isles weren't able to extend their lead though and exited the first period up 1-0.
