In San Jose, the New York Islanders were starting their first of a three-game road trip looking to continue their franchise-record 16 game point streak. For the second game in a row, it was a slow start for the Islanders.
It took nearly half the period before the Isles were able to get a shot on goal. Meanwhile, San Jose had seven shots on goal in the first three minutes, thanks in large part to an Adam Pelech penalty just 1:06 into the game.
Each team would have their chances, the Sharks with 11 shots and the Islanders with seven, but neither team would be able to find the back of the net.
