Islanders’ Executive Gets Role With Team Canada

An Islanders executive has been noticed by the hockey world. No, it’s not Garth Snow, though they should build him a monument after the Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy deals and contracts. No, the man who was named co-GM of Team Canada today was George McPhee. The former Capitals’ GM, and current special assistant to Snow, will be co-General Manager with Brad Treliving for Canada’s World Championship squad.

The IIHF World Championship tournament will take place in Russia, starting May 6th. Canada is coming off their first victory since 2007.
