The Islanders got their offense in gear in their last home game before a crucial nine-game road trip, outscoring the Devils, 6-4, at Barclays Center.
Ryan Strome had two goals and John Tavares and Jason Chimera scored 34 seconds apart in the opening minute of the third period to give the Islanders some breathing room. Casey Cizikas and Andrew Ladd had the other Islanders goals against Farmingville native Keith Kinkaid, who struggled in allowing all six goals.
J-F Berube didn’t have a terrific night in the Islanders’ net, allowing two late second-period goals as the Devils pulled within 4-3 after two.
