For the second straight game, the Islanders chose caution over risk.
Second-year forward Ryan Strome was a scratch for Sunday’s 4-0 win over the Devils at Barclays Center. Strome, 22, left Saturday night’s 3-2 overtime win over the Blue Jackets in Columbus with what the team called an “upper-body injury,” presumably from a hit into the boards by Andrew Bodnarchuk early in the second period.
Coach Jack Capuano said there wasn’t much of an update on Strome’s condition besides calling him, “day-to-day.” With the quick turnaround, there was not a lot of time for Capuano to get a full evaluation, although what he did hear was good.
