The Islanders have agreed to a three-year, $7.5 million dollar deal with Brock Nelson, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports (Sept. 16).
The reported deadline to get a deal done was today.
The 23-year-old Nelson had 20 goals and 22 assists last season for the Islanders. Coming off his entry-level contract, he did not have any arbitration rights.
Prior to Wednesday, the Islanders had not spoken with Nelson in six weeks, his agent, Ron Salcer, told Newsday (Sept. 14).
Nelson will earn $1.5 million this coming season, $2.5 million during the 2016-17 season, and $3.
