Islanders again lose to Penguins in Sidney Crosby's 1,000th game

The Islanders accomplished so much of what they wanted do, getting waves of bodies to the Penguins’ crease in a very physical effort.

They just couldn’t convert enough of their plentiful chances.

Kris Letang scored twice, including the winner at 13:34 of the third period, and Sidney Crosby, continuing his career-long assault on the Islanders, had two assists in his 1,000th game. The Islanders ended their four-game road trip at 2-2-0 with a 3-2 loss on Saturday night as the Penguins swept the two-game series.

Semyon Varlamov made 15 saves for the Islanders, who set a season-high with 53 credited hits while the Penguins had 30 hits.
