The Islanders played a strong game after losing one of their key defenseman in the first period but could only muster a point, losing to the Oilers, 4-3, in a shootout to drop the Isles to 1-3-2 in their last six games.
Nick Leddy and Shane Prince gave the Islanders an early 2-0 lead but Patrick Maroon and Leon Draisaitl scored later in the first to tie it. Casey Cizikas gave the Isles the lead back in the second but Milan Lucic scored on the power play to tie it, the second Oilers power-play goal of the game and the ninth the Isles have allowed in the last six games.
