By now, the New York Islanders fanbase is aware that one of their top prospects in Kieffer Bellows is confident both on and off of the ice.
The former Islanders’ 19th overall selection at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft is expected to be the next franchise player to lace up the skates next to the league’s 2018 Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year), Matthew Barzal.
However, there’s no set timetable for when Bellows will actually begin skating fulltime with the “that kid who won the Calder” and the rest of the Isles lineup. Still, the 20-year-old portrayed a sense of swagger and was assertive during a recent Islanders’ interview.
