Clinched: Islanders re-sign goalie Christopher Gibson to one-year, two-way deal

Hey, remember Christopher Gibson? Sure you do. The goalie acquired from the Leafs in the Michael Grabner trade? Was in net when the Islanders clinched their playoff berth last season with an OT win over the Capitals? Finnish dude with a super non-Finnish name? That Christopher Gibson?

Well, the Islanders just re-signed him to a one-year, two-way contract. The 23-year-old was an unrestricted free agent.

Gibson played in four games with the Islanders last season, and none bigger than that April one against the Capitals. He’ll probably spend most of this season down in Bridgeport, where he helped the Sound Tigers reach the playoffs last season.
