Fourteen Islanders stepped out on the ice Friday, none named Cal Clutterbuck.
This was an optional practice at Northwell Health Ice Center, but the valuable fourth-line right wing departed in the second period of the Islanders’ 2-1 shootout win at New Jersey Thursday night. The specific problem wasn’t revealed, but Clutterbuck did flex his left knee moments after bumping legs with Nico Hischier.
The injury isn’t serious, according to Barry Trotz. The coach said Clutterbuck was feeling a little better. Trotz will see how he’s feeling Saturday. The Islanders have a weekend back-to-back against Colorado and Minnesota at Barclays Center.
