MONTREAL — Eventually, Islanders coach Barry Trotz is going to have to make a decision on his goaltending. But with the playoffs still not clinched and following another dispiriting performance in a 4-0 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday night, that decision isn’t coming anytime soon.
“We have to get to the playoffs,” Trotz said. “You’re asking me what car I want and I don’t even know if I’m on the lot yet.”
Trotz started Thomas Greiss for the seventh time in the past eight games, but he made it only through 28:19, the team in front of him reeling while he allowed four goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Robin Lehner.
