Barry Trotz says Kyle Palmieri's goal drought is not a concern

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Islanders fans inclined to worry about Kyle Palmieri failing to score a goal in the first nine games of 2021-22 need look no further than last season.

After the Islanders traded for him from the Devils in April, the Smithtown native scored only two goals in 17 regular-season games. Then he scored seven goals in 19 postseason games.

Then he re-signed in the offseason for $20 million over four seasons.

Palmieri did have five assists through nine games, including a nifty feed to Brock Nelson for the second goal in Saturday night’s 2-0 victory over the Jets.
