The local team in the reboot of the failed XFL fittingly is giving a reboot to a former Giants coach.
Kevin Gilbride is set to be hired as the head coach of the league’s unnamed New York franchise, according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.
The 67-year-old Gilbride was a member of the Giants’ coaching staff for 10 seasons, the last seven as their offensive coordinator, including their two most recent Super Bowl championships.
At the end of the 2013 season, Giants owner John Mara said, “I think our offense is broken right now and we need to fix that,” and Gilbride announced he would retire.
